Indies arrive at NY fests
Rooftop, BAM set summer slates

A couple of Gotham's indie-centric summer film fests have mapped out slates, with Rooftop Films' Summer Series set to preview Lauren Ambrose starrer "Think of Me" and Brooklyn's BAMcinemaFest skedding the North American preem of Jonathan Caouette's doc "Walk Away Renee."
Rooftop begins its annual, summer-long series of outdoor screenings and events May 11, showcasing indies with a lineup that includes a weekend devoted to SXSW alums Caveh Zahedi's "The Sheik and I," Matthew Lillard's "Fat Kid Rules the World" and Amy Seimetz's "Sun Don't Shine." David and Nathan Zellner's "Kid-Thing" and Lucy Walker's "The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom" are also on the roster, with "Think of Me" screening May 12.
Mike Birbiglia's comedy "Sleepwalk with Me," based on his Off Broadway show, launches the fourth annual fest at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Benh Zeitlin's "Beasts of the Southern Wild" screens in a lineup that also includes Craig Zobel's "Compliance," So Yong Kim's "For Ellen," Josh Radnor's "Liberal Arts" and Ry Russo-Young's "Nobody Walks."
Landing spots in both fests are Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady's "Detropia," Jonathan Lisecki's "Gayby," Brian M. Cassidy and Melanie Shatzky's "The Patron Saints" and Keith Miller's "Welcome to Pine Hill."
